Elaboration process

Itaipu Binacional has been publishing its Sustainability Report on the company’s activity in Brazil for thirteen years in a row. The latest report, covering 2014, was published in June 2015 and since 2007 the documents are drawn up according to the Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for Sustainability Reporting.

This report was prepared as per the ‘In accordance’ – Core option of G4 version of the GRI Guidelines. The list of reported content (including the set of indicators of the electric utilities sector) and its location in this publication is available on [+] GRI Content Index.

The Social Responsibility Advisory Board is responsible for coordinating the preparation of the document, with the help of employees representing all departments and the three foundations maintained by Itaipu (“Focal Points").

The document is validated by the Boards’ Planning and Coordination advisors, Corporate Planning advisor and the Sustainability Management System coordinator.

Since 2004, Itaipu has been submitting its reports to an independent verification company. The PDF version of the Report was verified by KPMG and information on the assurance procedure is available on page 62.
