The electricity from Itaipu to Paraguay flows at a tension of 220 kV from the switching and voltage transformation of two 500 kV - 50 Hz transmission lines at the Right Bank substation.
At the Right Bank substation, four autotransformer/regulator assemblies reduce the voltage from 500 kV to 220 kV and deliver energy to four lines, two of which continue in the direction of Asunción, 300 km away, and the other two go to the Acaray power plant, located barely 5 km away from the Right Bank substation. From the Acaray power plant, belonging to ANDE, another three lines also continue to Asunción.
