After the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) in Curitiba, where it remained until May 8, the “Multiple Leminski” exposition is coming to the Ecomuseu in Foz do Iguaçu, where it will be opened on July 11 and will remain for at least three months.

At MON, almost 200 thousand people saw the exhibition, which shows the many faces of Paulo Leminski – poet, musician, translator, publicist, in addition to graffiti artist, biographer, journalist, and author of erotic comics, among other roles performed during his 44 years of life. And, of course, inveterate bohemian and polemic in all of his actions.

The exhibition comes first to Foz do Iguaçu before going to other capitals – Goiânia and Recife are already on the wait list – thanks to Itaipu Binacional, who is working together with MON.

Áurea Leminski, daughter of the poet and curatorship assistant of the exhibition, says that Foz do Iguaçu was considered as an interesting destination of the exhibition since the beginning due to the characteristics of the city, where over 70 ethnic groups live and for being located at the Triple Border. “Foz was a city that attracted Leminski, who studied Guarani and other languages spoken at this region”, she says.

She also emphasizes the presence of Brazilian and foreign tourists, attracted by the city’s attractions. And says that, although the Ecomuseu space is smaller than MON’s, all of Leminski’s faces will be shown. Even more, one of them is surprising to those visiting the exhibition: he was the author of a children’s book, “Lua no cinema” (Cinema moon) and one for young people, “Guerra dentro da gente” (A war inside of us), highly sold for being used in schools.

Áurea remembers that it is sure that the exhibition is coming, but it is necessary to search for partners in Foz to reduce direct and indirect costs, which includes from hotel costs for those responsible for the assemblage to vehicle support for advertising and tourism operators to include the exhibition in the artistic schedule and in the visitors' itinerary.

Ecomuseu still hasn’t decided the spaces for the exhibition, which occupied 1,700 square meters at the Eye of MON. Here, there is a need to adapt the exhibition to the Ecomuseu area, possibly with part of the collection being exposed in an external area.

To make the exhibition in Foz do Iguaçu viable, Itaipu sponsored the closing show of the MON exhibition on Wednesday (4), with the participation of singer Arnaldo Antunes and musicians playing songs written by Paulo Leminski. The same show will end the exhibition in Foz do Iguaçu, probably on October 18, when the Ecomuseu celebrates 26 years.

Paulo Leminski (1944-1989) causes, nowadays, the interest of different audiences due to his accessible language and creativity in the many areas he acted. The book “Toda Poesia” (All poetry) that gathers all his poems, is a best seller in Brazil.

One month after its release, it had to be reprinted three times, and sold more copies than the E. L. James trilogy (Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed), which dominated the first position of the ranking for over one year.
