The Advanced Technological Development Program (PDTA, in Portuguese) offers funding for scientific research at the Itaipu Technological Park (ITP).

In 2006, PDTA financed 34 scientific initiation scholarships; four extension initiation scholarships, two assistant professor scholarships, four internship scholarships; two specialization scholarships; four Master's program scholarships; and one post-doctorate scholarship.

Scholarship grantees' lines of study include biomedicine, chemistry, and even robotics.

Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering students at Unioeste have been building a robot capable of finding its way through images and dodging obstacles to get to its assigned destination.
