The Shelter Home is a collaboration between Itaipu and NGO Casa Família Maria Porta do Céu.

In it, women who suffered domestic violence and their children have a safe haven to rebuild their lives in a more dignified and independent way.

The protection period lasts for up to six months. The Shelter Home has been operating in Foz do Iguaçu since 2004 and hosts victims sent by the city's Women Protection Police Precinct.

Mothers and children are given psychological support, legal counsel, and the opportunity to go to a technical school.

They are mostly low-income women who depend on social programs and cannot support themselves financially after leaving the abusive situation.

The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a playground.
