Investigating crimes like child prostitution is a complex task in a border area. Especially when children are taken abroad and the crimes happen there. For that reason, preventive work is essential.
The Child and Teenager Protection Network was created to fulfill that role. Itaipu is part of the network, together with several institutions such as city and state Justice Departments, Children's Court, Guardian Council, and the federal government's Sentry Program.
Among Itaipu's main initiatives in this area are sponsorships for awareness campaigns and the following projects: Frontiers: Art Education in Districts, Nucria, Fight against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Teenagers Network and Unicef Partnership.
