Itaipu transmission systems
Font Size
The transmission system of Itaipu connects to three substations inside the Central (two gas-isolated substations, one operating at 50Hz and another at 60Hz, installed in the Machine House, and a conventional 50Hz substation at Margem Direita) with the Interconnected Systems of Brazil and of Paraguay.

Since 2014, the 50Hz sector went from six to eight transmission lines in 500kV, being four between the Machine House and Margem Direita substation, with around two kilometers of length, and four between Margem Direita and Foz do Iguaçu substations, with around 9 kilometers. At the 60Hz there are four transmission lines fo 500kV, each with 10 kilometers, connecting the plant with Foz do Iguaçu substation.
